My love for animals has always been a huge part of my life but it really started when I met my soulmate, Peanut in 2002. Peanut was a 14 week old, black and tan Dachshund that was chained up in a backyard. This was unacceptable to me so I worked with the owners to let me have him. It was the start of a magical relationship and my passion for helping animals in need. In 2011, Peanut and I moved to Florida from Washington State. When I moved I decided to change my career and found my next passion – REAL ESTATE. Over the years I started meeting people in animal rescue and talking with them about how I could help.I couldn’t foster because we had two dogs at home already. I met Caryn Hodge and got involved with The Friends of Manatee County Animal Services (FoMCAS), a nonprofit whose mission it is to work hand and hand with Manatee County Animal Services to enrich the lives of the shelter animals by raising funds for additional resources, medical care and heartworm treatment.I started volunteering at the shelter walking dogs, washing pet bowls and posting pictures on social media. But I felt that I needed to do more. That is when Realtorto the Rescue came about. Combining my two passions just made sense.
How it works…. Anyone interested in buying or selling property in Manatee or Sarasota County meets with me to see if we are a match and usually we are because I’m really good at what I do! The clients and I go through the buying/selling process. When we close, I donate a portion of the commission I earn I chose FoMCAS because I feel the animals they represent need the most help. MCAS is an open admission shelter filled with animals people have abandoned, mistreated or can no longer care for. By no fault of their own, these animals have found themselves in a noisy,unfamiliar shelter and are scared and unsure of their future. Many of the dogs are heartworm positive and haven’t had the best of lives. I’ve donated thousands of dollars and want to continue. It is always the client’s choice which organization gets the donation but the majority has gone to FoMCAS. I hope that anyone looking at buying or selling property will seek out my services so I can continue helping animals in need.{mls: A4435128}
